Don't turn your back from me I heard you sat down quietly There's a ghost upstairs When I look away he stares He cares about what I say When it's dark By myself Climb, climb up the hill With me Tell me it's real The grass we both feel Tell me the sun Is heating both of our cheeks Tell me the air You see it bending the wheat Tell me your hands Will hold mine for a while Tell me your hands Will hold mine for a time Don't turn your back from me I heard you sat down quietly You don't have to speak Just sit down Watch over me when I sleep And climb Climb up the hill With me Tell me it's real The grass we both feel Tell me the sun Is heating both of our cheeks Tell me the air You see it bending the wheat Tell me your hands Will hold mine for a while Tell me your hands Will hold mine for a while For a while For a time For while For a time

Is It Her? 04:14
His boots are swallowed by the sand As he's pushing his boat into the ocean The night is bright The moonlight stands high A wave in the dark Is it her? A breeze a flicker The rock across the water Was it her the waves he heard? The dance of the seaweed The crackle of the hull Was it her the howling wind? The quiet water lapping around the boat As he's being pushed away from the shore His soft wrinkled hands Are holding tight on the wood edges A breeze a flicker The rock across the water Was it her the waves he heard? The dance of the seaweed The crackle of the hull Was it her the howling wind? The standing tall trees On the edges of cliffs Was it her the falling branch? The storms in the seashells The sound of the coast bells Was it her the howling wind? The dance of the seaweed The crackle of the hull Was it her the waves he heard? The storms in the seashells The sound of the coast bells Was it her the howling wind?

Turbulence 05:17
I'm drunk now Don't listen when I talk at night Don't get caught in my fog It's thick and narrow My world is lost On an arrow Don't watch me From the air Don't watch me, please When I'm unaware Cause I want the night to never end I wanna be drunk again I want the turbulence As I move across the room In an endless dance When my eyes are windows To the depths Of each sorrow and sadness I've ever felt Please, unload the weight And I'll try my best Vulnerable as it gets Vulnerable as I get Don't watch me From the air Don't watch me, please When I'm unaware The residues Of what I felt Residing in my head They never left And I need them stronger I need them longer Just a bit lonelier Don't watch me From the air Don't watch me Please, when I'm unaware Cause I want the night to never end I wanna be drunk again I want the turbulence As I move across the room In an endless dance When my eyes are windows To the depths Of each sorrow and sadness I've ever felt Please, unload the weight And I'll try my best Vulnerable as it gets Vulnerable as I get Don't watch me From the air Don't watch me Please, when I'm unaware

A window Wide open Is letting the rain Inside the room Where are the birds? No one, no signs The rain is filling up The living room The clouds are falling down On the roof Here comes the waves Tumbling around The sculptures of the wind Around our arms Can you feel the air? Where are the birds? Fleeing from our lungs To the shore? We'll soon be lost at sea Where are the birds? The rain is filling up The living room The clouds are falling down On the roof Here comes the waves Tumbling around The sculptures of the wind Around our arms The rain is filling up The living room The clouds are falling down On the roof Here comes the waves Tumbling around The sculptures of the wind Around our arms

Strangers 03:48
I could spend The day Wandering Strangers On the way Our eyes will meet Unrevealed Discreet Would It be easier? To be a stranger? Remote From you and all things Until The night end all springs Cause I'd rather Be a stranger To you Today Amongst the flowers Bending towards the night To ignite The pain I got From you Would It be easier? To be a stranger? Remote From you and all things Until The night end all springs Would It be easier? To be a stranger? Remote From you and all things Until The night end all springs Would Would Would It be easier?

Cold night All white It's freezing cold Keep your feet On the dock Don't fall It would erase The wind Like knives Can't feel My hands And where are yours? Don't Cross the estuary Just scream At the bay Just feel And it won't erase Embrace Don't fight And it won't erase Do scream Do feel Embrace Don't fight And it won't erase Cold night All white It's freezing cold It won't erase

Red Deer 04:53
You claim to know The way I felt On the red sand With the mountains so clear Laying on the surface Of a wide lake I'm watching the red deer Watching the red deer You just don't want me And that's just fine I realized I don't need more colors I'll just be two thousand miles away Walking upon the coast I'm watching the red deer I'm watching the red deer Don't need more colors No need for reinforcements Just leave my pain on it's own Prove me that I can be hollow I wanna welcome silence And it'll leave me unknown I'm watching the red deer I'm watching the red deer I'll just be steady On a hill on my own And I'll forget about your eyes Just give me more time To welcome silence I kinda wanted to hear your voice All the time I'm watching the red deer I'm watching the red deer I'm watching the lake dear I'm watching the lake dear

Let's take a walk To the old roads To the old house Where we used to live Let's take a walk Across the dry stone walls Let's just put our shoes on And go To the old house To the old house Do you remember? Look through the door It's still open How we use to gather Around the fire? How we used to talk all night With the wind blowing all around Watching the flames Fading out In the dark Let's take a walk To the old roads To the old house Where we used to live Away from the city lights Away from our busy lives To the old house To the old house Do you remember? Look through the door It's still open How we use to gather Around the fire? How we used to talk all night With the wind blowing all around Watching the flames Fading out In the dark Oh come on, let's go back! Are there any roads or any tracks? To the old house? To the old house To the old house

Couldn't catch your hand Out there in the snow You left me a trail And I followed Picturing your steps Alone on the road Underneath the trees Your gazing around And I leave the ground Couldn't catch your hand Up there in the clouds But I can see your hair Curling down your coat I wish I could fall Like snowflakes on your cheeks And melt down to your To your lips Couldn't catch your hand Out there in the snow You left me a trail And I followed Couldn't catch your hand Out there in the clouds But I can see your hair Curling down your coat Couldn't catch your hand Out there in the snow But I can see your hair Curling down your coat Couldn't catch your hand Out there in the snow You left me a trail And I followed Couldn't catch your hand

Let's Dream 05:14
Let's dream The birth of everything Let's walk The path of the old Let's dream The end of everything Let's watch The rain Streaming Down your shoulders Let's talk Slowly Before the night set us off Set us off The roots unraveling our homes Our fingers intertwined as everything falls No roofs but the dome of the earth As the stars stretches to us

about

Sony Masterworks is proud to present Elliott Armen's second album, Turbulence. For this project, the young singer decided to travel to Scotland, dreaming of a particularly isolated recording on the Isle of Lewis, where the inspiring Black Bay Studio is located, run by Peter Fletcher, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Departing from Saint-Malo by ferry and then taking a bus to Stornoway, the main town on the island, Elliott Armen began his journey, walking 200 kilometers through stunning landscapes filled with mountains and lakes. After setting up his tent under the stars for twelve days, he arrived at his destination, fully immersed. It was then that he slipped himself into complete tranquility to record this new opus.

A journey through grief, love, and solitude. A translation of the immense landscapes that populate Celtic lands. Turbulence is an anthem to melancholy as a mean to reach joy, where guitars, pianos, drums and an ethereal voice blend together to deliver this unique, enveloping, and timeless atmosphere that is characteristic of Elliott Armen.

Elliott Armen Saint Malo, France

Elliott Armen, a 25 year old author and composer, grew up between Paris and his natal land, Saint-Malo in Brittany.
In the footsteps of Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens and Andy Sauf, this young Briton mixes the sounds of the guitar and the piano with his own original voice thus building an intimate atmosphere which oscillates between density and lightness, always rooted between the sea and the land
